Privacy Policy

Short Version

StepSquad does not sell personal data, run ad-tech tracking, or use third-party analytics to profile you. It is intentionally built as a quieter, invite-only support tool.

To make the app work, StepSquad does store the limited account and app content you choose to provide, such as your phone number for sign-in, your display name, your squad membership, and the messages or support activity you create inside the app.

Information StepSquad May Store

• Your phone number so you can request and verify a one-time login code.
• Your first name or display name.
• Your squad membership and invite-related records.
• Messages, private messages, gratitude entries, reflections, and support responses that you choose to submit in the app.
• When you activate attendance features, precise latitude and longitude, location accuracy when available, and a resolved address when available.
• Basic account and session records needed to keep the service working and protect access.
• Beta access request details if you submit the website beta form, including your first name, last name, and email address.

Information StepSquad Does Not Use For Tracking

• No advertising identifiers for ad targeting.
• No sale of personal information.
• No public profile or discovery system.
• No follower graph or social-feed analytics.
• No continuous or background location tracking.
• No contact-list harvesting.

Location Services And Attendance

StepSquad uses your device's location services when you activate attendance features. With your permission, an attendance check may collect your precise latitude and longitude, location accuracy when available, and a resolved street address when available. This information is used to create and support the attendance record you requested.

StepSquad does not use location services for continuous or background tracking and does not perform background or midway attendance scans. You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings, but attendance features that require a location check may then be unavailable.

Why The Information Is Used

• To let you sign in and stay signed in.
• To place you in the correct trusted squad.
• To deliver the group-chat, PM, gratitude, prompt, and Need Support features.
• To keep the service stable, prevent misuse, and handle support or beta onboarding.

Retention

StepSquad is designed to avoid keeping lived activity forever. Current product rules are built around cleanup and expiry behavior rather than long-term social archive behavior.

• In-app activity is intended to clear after 30 days.
• Attendance records, including location information stored with them, remain until you delete them.
• Inactive users may be deleted after 30 days.
• Dormant squads may be deleted after 30 days.

Sharing

StepSquad is not built as a data-brokered product. Information is handled to operate the service itself and is not sold for advertising or audience profiling.

Your Choices

Depending on the current product flow, you may be able to leave a squad, hide your account, or delete your account from within the app. If those flows are not sufficient for a particular issue, you can reach out through the StepSquad team path you were given for beta access.

This page may be updated as StepSquad moves from a tight beta toward a broader release. Material changes should be reflected on this page with an updated date.
